SWIM LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

 

What to Expect
The Learn-to-Swim program allows swimmers to progress at their own pace, mastering one set of skills before moving on to the next. Swimming lessons for adults are available in the following three levels, developed to meet the needs of adult learners

The Swim Basics program includes three stages for teens and adults: Stage 1 Water Acclimation, Stage 2 Water Movement and Stage 3 Water Stamina. The Swim Strokes program includes three stages for teens and adults: Stage 4 Stroke Introduction, Stage 5 Stroke Development and Stage 6 Stroke Mechanics.

1) Learning the Basics: earn basic swimming strokes and skills needed to stay safe, and help keep others safe in and around the water.

2) Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes: Participants will gain proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes.

3) Swimming for Fitness: Participants will learn to refine their front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and turns to build endurance.

Our swimming lessons for adults include best-in-class instruction that can help you build your skills, and swim more efficiently.

 

TRAINING

Level 1
Enter and exit the water independently, bobbing, open eyes under water to retrieve objects, front and back floats and glides and recovery, roll from front to back and back to front, tread water, beginning freestyle and backstroke.

Level 2
Entering and exiting the water independently, traveling at least 5 yards, bobbing, gliding for at least 2 body lengths, rolling to a back float for 3 seconds and recovery.

Level 3
Entering the water by jumping in at the side, fully submerging and holding breath, bobbing, opening eyes under water to recover submerged objects, front and back floats, recover to a vertical position, changing direction while swimming on front and back, freestyle and backstroke. Adjustment to deep water is also covered.

Level 4
Skills performed in this class include: jumping into deep water from the side, swimming the freestyle and backstroke for 15 yards, treading or floating for 30 seconds, breastroke and dolphin kicks and beginning diving skills are introduced in this class.

Level 5
Some of the milestones of the Level 5 class are: headfirst entries, swimming under water, swimming the freestyle for 25 yards, swimming the elementary backstroke for 25 yards, improvement in backstroke, breastroke and butterfly while learning open turns on back and front.

Stroke Correction
(7-12 Years & Older) In Stroke Correction class our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming skills and to build on ones previously learned. The expectations are higher for participants now in regards to distance and quality. Each class is loaded with engaging and challenging activities and drills to build endurance and improve technique, as well as improve fitness level. More advanced racing starts are introduced and all the competitive stroke will be worked on in correlation with the competitive swimming team calendar.

Teens And Adults
